Research Notes on Flurazepam
Flurazepam (Dalmane, Dalmadorm) is a medication used for short-term treatment of insomnia, as well as other conditions determined by a physician. Flurazepam is a Schedule IV drug under the Convention on Psychotropic Substances, therefore, addictive and possibly fatal. It can cause birth defects in an unborn baby, as well as addiction or withdrawal symptoms in a newborn.
Fast Facts:
- Has a very long elimination half life of 40-250 hours
- A "classical" benzodiazepine
- Central nervous system depressant
- Not currently recommended for use in persons under 15 years of age
