Research Notes on Fluoxetine
Fluoxetine is used for the treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder, depression, and panic disorder. This medication belongs to a class of drugs known as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs. Fluoxetine is the generic version of brand name drug Prozac.1

- Fluoxetine is sometimes used to treat alcoholism, Tourette's syndrome, obesity, headaches, and sleep disorders.2
- Nausea, sore throat, weight loss, excessive sweating, and changes in sex drive are a few side effects of this medication.2
