Fluoride Poisoning

Research Notes on Fluoride Poisoning

Low doses of fluoride can be found on many commercial products such as toothpaste, mouthwash, cooking wares and drugs. If given in high concentrations, fluoride can cause harmful side effects. Fluoride poisoning commonly occurs following an ingestion of fluoride-containing products. Signs and symptoms are nausea, vomiting, tremor, and respiratory distress. In case of excessive flouride swallowing, home remedies such as milk, calcium carbonate or milk of magnesia can help slow down the absorption. Then, refer to the doctor at once.
