Research Notes on Fluid Resuscitation
Fluid resuscitation is also known as fluid replacement. It is defined as the medical practice of replenishing bodily fluid lost through sweating, bleeding, or fluid shifts. Fluids can be replaced orally, intravenously, or through hypodermoclysis.1
Fast Facts:
- Intravenously administering fluids is the fastest method.1
- Fluid shifts happens when the body's fluids move between the intracellular space into the intravascular space.1
- Low blood pressure can cause damage to the brain, liver, and kidneys.1
