Research Notes on Flomax and Pregnancy
Flomax is not approved for use in women. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has labeled Flomax a category B drug, meaning that studies done in animals did not indicate any risk to the developing fetus.1 However, since Flomax is only for use in men there have been no tests in pregnant women.
Fast Facts:
- It is unknown whether or not Flomax is excreted into breast milk.2
- Flomax (tamsulosin) is a prescription medication used to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia.3
- Some common side effects associated with the use of Flomax include insomnia, runny nose, congestion, and dizziness.3
