Research Notes on Fish Oil and Bipolar Disorder
Omega 3 found in fish oil has been shown to be helpful in treating bipolar disorder.1 Bipolar disorder is a mental illness with manic episodes followed by severe depression. Fish oil seems to block the abnormal signaling in the brain. Omega 3 can be found in salmon, cod and other fish, as well as canola and flaxseed oil. 2
