Research Notes on First Signs of Alzheimer's Disease

The first signs of Alzheimer's disease are often overlooked as being part of the aging process. By recognizing the signs and seeking medical attention, you may be able to take more advantage of the various treatment options available. One of the first signs of Alzheimer's disease is memory loss.1 It is more difficult for someone with Alzheimer's to recall recently learned information. Memory loss is key because it often precedes more noticeable signs that range from loss of initiative to changes in behavior.1

Fast Facts:

  • Changes in personality such as confusion, fear, or suspicion are an early sign of Alzheimer's.2
  • An inability to complete familiar tasks such as paying bills or preparing meals may be indicative of Alzheimer's.2
  • Some people in the early stages of Alzheimer's may display poor judgment.2
