Research Notes on Fibromyalgia Risk Factors
There are certain risk factors that may increase a person's chance of developing fibromyalgia. Fibromyalgia risk factors include being a female, age, having had difficult experiences in childhood, having a psychological vulnerability to stress, and having a relative with the condition.1 If you have a rheumatic disease, such as rheumatoid arthritis or lupus, your chances of developing fibromyalgia may be increased.2
