Research Notes on Fibromyalgia Medications
There are many different medications for fibromyalgia. Medications such as analgesics, anticonvulsant medications, antidepressants, anti-inflammatories, muscle relaxants, and steroids may help to reduce the symptoms of fibromyalgia.1 However, there is no one medication that will treat or cure fibromyalgia.2

- Some medications are available over the counter such as acetaminophen, aspirin, ibuprofen, and naproxen.3
- Medications such as fluoxetine, duloxetine, milnacipran, gabapentin, and pregabalin are available by prescription.3
- Fibromyalgia medications are used to minimize symptoms and improve general health.3
- Narcotic analgesics are seldom prescribed for pain relief from fibromyalgia.4
