Research Notes on Uterine Fibroids
Uterine fibroids are a common non-cancerous growth that develops in the muscular wall of the uterus, that appear during childbearing years. Their size can from very tiny, to larger than cantaloupe size. Uterine fibroids seldom require treatment, but if they cause discomfort, medical therapy or surgical procedures can shrink or remove the fibroids.

- Uterine fibroids are also called uterine leiomyomata or leiomyoma, or myomas.
- Most women with uterine fibroids have no symptoms.
- Most women with fibroids can get pregnant naturally.
