Research Notes on Female Genital Cutting
Female genital mutilation/cutting is the partial or total removal of the female external genitalia for cultural or other non-therapeutic reasons. It is estimated that more than 130 million girls and women alive today have undergone FGM/C, primarily in Africa and, to a lesser extent, in some countries in the Middle East.
