Research Notes on Female Circumcision Support Groups
The following support groups for female circumcision were established primarily to create programs that will help women who were forced to experience clitoral excision or other genital mutilation against their will. Other support groups aim to educate women, communities, researchers, activists, attorneys, and health care practitioners by disseminating on-line and off-line female circumcision related materials. Other groups are active in the development of a political, legal and social environment that challenges attitudes and behaviors on female circumcision and promotes its abandonment, in the context of the promotion and protection of women's and girls' rights.
