Research Notes on Familial Adenomatous Polyposis
Familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP) is a rare form of hereditary colon cancer. Individuals with FAP develop hundreds or thousands of colon polyps at an early age, often in childhood. These individuals almost always develop colon cancer by age 40. Early screening and surveillance is essential.
