Facial reconstructive surgery is commonly performed on individuals who have experienced a trauma or were born with a defect that has altered their appearance in some way.1 This type of surgery has allowed patients with cleft lip, cancer of the head and neck, burns and other congenital anomalies to appear more aesthetically pleasing.2 Approximately six million people across the country have benefited from reconstructive surgery techniques.2

- Procedures include the correction of birth defects, broken facial bones and reconstruction following cancer of the head and neck.
