The U.S. Food and Drug Administration have issued a revised warning on an increased risk of suicidal thoughts and ideation on patients taking antiepileptic drugs. The results of the clinical studies points that approximately patients taking antiepileptic medication are twice at risk of developing suicidal behavior. Family members and caregivers are cautioned in monitoring behavioral changes such as withdrawal from daily activities and worsening depression in patients taking antiepileptic drugs.
