Sleep Disorders 101: Aromatherapy and Sleep

Can I actually smell in my sleep? I've seen products that claim to help me stay asleep with special scents. Is that true?

Michael Breus, Ph.D.

Smell is more of an issue at bedtime, when you're trying to fall asleep and reduce your anxiety level. Recent data suggests that you cannot smell while sleeping, so beware of advertisers who make you think you can smell their products while sleeping.
