Research Notes on Exercise for Families
It is not only important for adults to get in an adequate amount of exercise, but according to the American Academy of Pediatrics, children should get at least one hour of physical activity every day. By doing activities together, parents and children will benefit from the physical exercise and as a bonus, get to spend quality time doing fun activities together.1
Fast Facts:
- Walk instead of driving. Add some fun by allowing kids to track how far they walked on a pedometer.2
- Find a new place to explore on foot, such as a trail or new neighborhood.3
- Engage children in helping with chores.4
- Designate one evening weekly as family fitness night.5
