Research Notes on Esophagomyotomy
Esophagomyotomy is the treatment of choice for achalasia. It is a surgical procedure used to cut the lower esophageal sphincter, to allow food and liquids to pass to the stomach. This procedure may not completely correct and eliminate the symptoms of achalasia, however, a majority of patients have reported great improvement after surgery.
