Research Notes on Ergonomics
Ergonomics, or human engineering, involves making changes to your work environment to improve overall performance and increase safety.1 Ergonomics takes into account the type of work you perform and the tools that you use. By making simple adjustments, you can decrease the risk of suffering a work-related injury.
Fast Facts:
- You can prevent carpal tunnel syndrome by adjusting the position of your computer keyboard.2
- Lifting heavy objects the proper way can reduce the risk of having a back injury.2
- Items that you use frequently should be placed within reach to avoid excessive extended reaching.3
