Research Notes on Epidural Injections
An epidural injection is an injection of steroids or other medications into the epidural space. The steroid injection reduces the inflammation and swelling of spinal nerves which may in turn reduce pain, tingling, and numbness. Epidural injections are most commonly performed for nerve root pain into the arms or legs caused by a herniated disk.
