Research Notes on Eosinophilic Granuloma
Eosinophilic granuloma -- also called EG, langerhans cell histiocytosis, LCH, or histiocytosis X -- is a tumor in bone or lung and occurs most commonly in children aged 5 to 10. The skull is frequently affected. While typically EG been thought of as a cancer-like condition, more recently researchers have begun to suspect that it is actually an autoimmune phenomenon, in which rogue immune cells attack the body, rather than fight infections.
