Research Notes on Endorphins
Endorphins are compounds that are produced by the pituitary gland and hypothalamus. These are produced during strenuous exercise, excitement, pain, and orgasm. Endorphins can produce a sense of well being during stressful times. They also work as a natural fever relievers.1

- Exercise can release endorphins and produce positive feelings that can aid in depression.2
- Some foods can lead to enhanced secretion of endorphins such as chocolate or chili peppers.3
- Researchers have shown that acupuncture can release endorphins.1
