Research Notes on Endocrine Tumors
An endocrine tumor is a growth that affects the parts of the body that produces hormones. The tumor itself can secrete hormones and can cause serious illness.1 Some factors that can increase the risk of developing this disease include age, gender, race and family history. Treatment depends on the size and location of the tumor. Surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy and hormone therapy are some ways to treat this condition.2
Fast Facts:
- Targeted therapy is used to target defective genes that contibutes to cancer growth.2
- Follow-up care is also important to manage the treated disease.2
- These tumors can be cancerous or malignant.1
