Research Notes on Elephantiasis
Elephantiasis is a condition characterized by the enlargement of the arms, legs, or genitals accompanied by the thickening of the skin. It is an infection caused by parasitic worms that lodge in the lymphatic system, causing obstruction and leading to swelling of the affected area. Transmission of this disease is through bites of mosquitoes carrying the microfilariae (minute larvae).
