Research Notes on Eczema Causes


Eczema is a chronic skin condition characterized by dryness, itchiness, and recurring skin rash due to hypersensitivity. Skin irritation causes inflammation and thickening of the skin. There are two main types of eczema: atopic and contact. Atopic eczema is associated with IgE antibodies (Immunoglobulin E) responsible for controlling the body's allergic reactions. This type of eczema tends to run in families with a history of hay fever or asthma. Contact eczema is usually caused by allergens found in detergent soaps, perfumes, and dusts that trigger skin rashes.
