Research Notes on Ectropion
Ectropion is an eye condition that causes the eyelid (usually the lower eyelid) to turn outwards, exposing its inner surface. Its signs and symptoms include sagging of the lower eyelid, excessive tearing, redness, and irritation. The most effective treatment for ectropion is surgery to tighten sagging skin and muscles. Symptoms of dryness and irritation can be relieved by using artificial tears and lubricating ointments. An eye doctor should be consulted if symptoms develop to determine appropriate treatment for the condition.
