Research Notes on Eating Soy Reduces COPD Risks
New research shows that a high intake of foods containing soy (soy milk, tofu) may improve lung function and lower the risk of COPD. Flavonoids found in soy act as an anti-inflammatory in the lung and may protect against tobacco carcinogens. Research in the past has shown that soy can reduce cholesterol and ease symptoms of menopause.1

- Around 90 percent of COPD cases are caused by long-term smoking.1
- Approximately 650 patients were surveyed for this study.2
