The symptoms of early onset Alzheimer's (EOA) are similar to the more common form (late onset Alzheimer's), but is much more devastating. The more common type usually affects people in their 70's. EOA strikes people in their 30's, 40's and 50's. It progresses quickly. Victims of this disease usually progress to the terminal stage within 10 years.1

  • --Mutations in one of three genes cause about five percent of all EOA cases.2
  • --Genetic testing for susceptiblity to EOA is available.2
