Research Notes on Dysthymic Disorder
Dysthymic disorder is a lack of interest in normally enjoyed activities, or a constant feeling of illness.1 In general, people with dysthmia are quite gloomy most of the time, and have very little joy in their lives.2 Dysthymia is a mild, but chronic type of depression.3
Fast Facts:
- Dysthmia affects women two to three times more often than men.4
- To be diagnosed with dysthymia, a person must have symptoms for at least two years.5
- Also known as dysthymia, chronic depression, and minor depression.3
