Research Notes on Dyflex
Dyflex is a combination of dyphylline and guaifenesin.1 Dyphylline improves breathing by relaxing the muscles and opening the airways; guaifenesin acts as an expectorant to loosen chest congestion and make easier to cough.1 Dyflex is used to treat symptoms of asthma, emphysema, and chronic bronchitis such as wheezing.2 Dyflex works gradually to open up the airways, so it should not be used for a sudden asthma attack.2
Fast Facts:
- Dyflex is also known as Dyflex-400.3
- Those that have allergies to dyphylline and guaifenesin should not take Dyflex.1
- Side effects of Dyflex inlclude: nausea, headache, stomach cramps and rapid heartbeat; consult a physician if any of these side effects persists or worsens.4
- Children under six years of age should not used Dyflex unless under a doctor's care.5
- If a person has a history of diabetes, high blood pressure, kidney disease, seizures, or thyroid problems, inform a doctor before taking Dyflex.3
