Research Notes on Dunstan Baby Language
Priscilla Dunstan claims that every newborn communicates with sounds from birth to three months. These sounds are not language but reflexes. She explains that these are "words" that occur before the baby can actually cry.1
Fast Facts:
- Has been featured on the Oprah Winfrey Show.2
- According to the theory the five words are "neh," "owh," "heh," "eairh," and "eh."3
- She claims that if the baby is not responded to when using these "words" the baby will stop using them.4
