Research Notes on Dry Eye
Dry eye is an eye disease caused by decreased production of fluids from your tear glands. Symptoms of dry eye are dryness, burning, and a sandy gritty eye irritation that gets worse as the day goes on.
Fast Facts:
- Both eyes are usually affected.
- Adults 40 and over are more prone to dry eye.
- Dry eye can cause eyes to water.
- Symptoms of dry eye are worsened by activities in which the rate of blinking is reduced due to prolonged use of the eyes, such as reading, computer usage, driving or watching television.
