Abruptly withdrawing from doxepin can cause unpleasant side effects such as dizziness, irritability, agitation, a tingling or burning sensation, and anxiety.1 Provided you gradually discontinue use of this medication, adverse side effects should be minimal or none.2 Your doctor can give you instructions on the best way to discontinue treatment, if needed.1

- It belongs to a class of drugs called tricyclic antidepressants.3
