Doxepin is in a group of antidepressant drugs known as tricyclic antidepressants. It is used in the treatment of depression and anxiety.1 It also has been found to be helpful for treating chronic pain and the pain of neuralgia.2 Topical doxepin is used to relieve itching in patients with certain kinds of eczema.3 It is sold in the United States under the brand names Sinequan, Adapin and Zonalon.4
