Research Notes on Doxazosin and Pregnancy
Doxazosin should only be used by pregnant women when the benefits to the mother clearly outweigh any potential risks to the fetus. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has labeled doxazosin as a category C drug, meaning the effects of the medication have not been completely studied in pregnant women. As with any medication, women should consult with their physician before using doxazosin during pregnancy.1

- Consult with your physician before breastfeeding, as it is currently unknown whether doxazosin is excreted into breast milk.2
- Some common side effects associated with the use of doxazosin include headaches, dizziness, and diarrhea.2
- Doxazosin (Cardura) is a prescription medication used to high blood pressure and benign prostatic hyperplasia.2
