Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) was previously known as attention deficit disorder in the 1980's. The addition of “hyperactive” word was brought by further study and analysis of the condition. While serious emotional disturbance (SED) may have symptoms similar to ADHD such as short attention span and some learning disabilites. SED may also be diagnose together with ADHD.
