Research Notes on Diet Treatment for Asthma
Researchers have not discovered any foods that help in the treatment of asthma. However, people who consume higher amounts of vitamins C and E, beta-carotene, flavonoids, magnesium, selenium, and omega-3 fatty acids have fewer cases of the condition.1 More research needs to be done to understand how diet relates to asthma.2
Fast Facts:
- A well-balanced diet helps to prevent asthma symptoms from occurring.1
- One study showed that people who grew up eating a Mediterranean diet were less likely to have asthma symptoms.1
- Consuming less sodium may reduce the risk of asthma symptoms.2
