The question of whether pop superstar Michael Jackson died from an overdose can be confusing, with a yes and no answer. On August 28, 2009, the Los Angeles County coroner's office released Jackson's official cause of death as "acute propofol intoxication" with "benzodiazepine effect" listed as a contributing factor. The manner of his death is listed officially as homicide. In essence, Jackson's death was caused by an overdose of propofol with additional medications (midazolam, lorazepam, and diazepam) contributing to his death, but the overdose was not self-inflicted.1
