Research Notes on Diazepam and Pregnancy
Diazepam is not recommended for use during pregnancy. Diazepam, also known as Diastat, Diastat AcuDial, Diastat Pediatric, Diazepam Intensol, Dizac, Valium, Valrelease, and Zetran, is in the class of drugs called benzodiazepines.1 It is used to treat anxiety disorders, relax muscles and help with alcohol withdrawal. It can also treat certain types of seizures.2

- A substantial amount of this drug can pass into breast milk.3
- Diazepam can be habit forming.2
- Tell your health care provider if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant prior to using this medication.3
