Ulcer can refer to any open wound or sore. A diabetic ulcer usually involves the foot or leg, left untreated serious medical problems can result. Diabetic ulcers are caused by loss of sensation and feeling in the lower extremeties. This often leads to injuries which may go untreated for long periods of time. Improper care of injuries can lead to ulcers and can become dangerous if not properly treated.
