Kidney complications are a major concern for people that have diabetes. Approximately about one in three diabetics will develop kidney disease.1 It can take several years for diabetic kidney complications to develop.2
Fast Facts:
- Some common symptoms of kidney disease include frequent urination, swelling of the face, hands and feet, bloody urine, nausea, and vomiting.3
- High blood sugar levels are most often the cause of diabetic kidney complications.4
- Damaged kidneys do not filter the waste from the blood, instead it builds up over time and can cause complete kidney failure. 4
