  • The leading cause of blindness in the 20 to 74 year age group is diabetes.1
  • Senile cataracts are the most common type of cataracts, and diabetes raises the risk by 40 percent.3
  • Sugar cataracts are another type of diabetic cataract and can occur at any age. They are most common in young adults with improper control of their diabetes. They can grow rapidly and cause complete loss of vision.3
