The Department of Pediatric Rheumatology at the Penn State Hershey Medical Center is apart of the Pediatric Unit. The pediatric unit consists of a thirty-five bed unit that provides care to children from infancy through 18 years of age.1 The team in the pediatric unit combines the expertise of registered nurses, physicians, child life specialists, pediatric social workers, clinical nurse specialists, nutritionist, pharmacists, therapists, family-centered care coordinators and teachers for the seventeen medical/surgical special services of which rheumatology is a member.1

- The physicians in the Department of Rheumatology diagnose and treat arthritis, immune disorders of muscles, connective tissue diseases, and a variety of soft tissue inflammatory conditions.1
- The Division of Rheumatology provides both outpatient consultation and management, and inpatient consultation.
- The physicians at the Hershey Medical Center focus on patients with rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, spondyloarthropathies, vasculitis, gout, infectious arthritis, scleroderma, and other rheumatic diseases.1
