Dentophobia is the pathological form of fear of dentistry and of receiving dental care.1 This type of phobia causes distress and impacts not only a phobic’s oral health, but also other aspects of the person’s life.2 Dentophobia is believed to have stemmed from bad experiences in the past, the media, or peers who have related horror stories of dental visits.3
