Dental Bridge Risks

Research Notes on Dental Bridge Risks

One or more missing teeth can cause a change in bite, speech impediments, and tooth decay. A dental bridge can solve these problems; however, there are risks involved. Dental bridges may cause the teeth to be mildly temperature-sensitive a few weeks after the procedure. If proper oral hygiene is not practiced, bacteria and food particles may accumulate between the gums and teeth supporting the bridge, causing tooth decay. Skilled and experienced dentists can decrease the risks of these complications, and can provide expert advice on proper oral care.
