Research Notes on Curettage
Curettage, in surgery, is used to remove any growths, tissue, or other material from the wall of a cavity or other surface by use of a curette (a scraper).1 It may be used to obtain a biopsy of a mass to determine if it is a granuloma or some other tumor.2 It can even treat basal cell carcinoma.

- It may be used to remove a skin cancer.1
- Is a declining method of abortion.2
- It has been replaced by vacuum aspiration.2
- Is also employed to treat periodontally affected teeth.2
