Research Notes on Crohn's Disease Prognosis

Since Crohn's disease affects people in different ways, it is often difficult to give a definitive prognosis. Crohn's is a lifelong disease and will require treatment throughout life as the disease flares up. However, Crohn's is not a fatal illness and can be properly managed with adequate care.1

Fast Facts:

  • Crohn's patients often have periods of disease followed by long periods of remission.2
  • During periods of remission, Crohn's patients often lead normal lives.2
  • Those who suffer from Crohn's disease have an increased risk of some types of cancer.3
