Research Notes on Continuous Glucose Monitoring

Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) is a procedure where a probe is inserted under the skin and attached to a monitor worn by the patient for 24 to 72 hours. The device records glucose levels every 5 minutes. At the end of the monitoring period, the probe is removed and the monitor is connected to a computer and a printout of readings is generated. The results can support adjustments to diet, exercise program and medications to better control diabetes.
