Research Notes on Contact Lenses for Older Adults

Presbyopia is a common symptom of the aging process. This is when you notice that you read your newspaper, magazines, or books at arm's length; this is because your eyes have trouble focusing on objects up close. There are many treatments available to compensate for this age-related problem, such as using contact lenses and eyeglasses. One of the risks for contact lenses in older adults is that aging eyes are more prone to dry eyes and therefore would likely suffer irritation when wearing contact lenses. For more information about eye wear that is best for your needs, contact your eye care specialist.
