Research Notes on Common Side Effects of Paxil
Paxil (paroxetine) is a medication used in the treatment of depression. It is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor.1 Side effects are common with any medication, however most people tolerate Paxil very well. Most side effects are minor and require no medical treatment.2
Fast Facts:
- The most common side effects are weakness, nausea, dizziness, insomnia, dry mouth, and constipation.3
- Other more infrequent side effects may include muscle pain, rash, chest pain, and blurred vision.4
- Patients on Paxil should be closely observed as this medication may cause the increased the risk of suicidal thinking.5
